Course Details
The Passenger Ship Crowd Management Training
Course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills they
must possess to perform the function and assist passengers by following the
procedures and structured plans on board the passenger ship. This covers the
mandatory competencies and the required knowledge, understanding and
competencies specified in the STCW Code.
Eligibility
1. Have valid certificates of the four basic security courses.
2. Have a valid medical certificate of good health.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the candidate will gain the following :-
1.Knowledge of the shipboard emergency plans, instructions and procedures related to the management and evacuation of passengers.
2. Knowledge of applicable crowd management techniques and relevant equipment to be used to assist passengers in an emergency situation.
3. Knowledge of muster lists and emergency instructions.
4. Ability to give clear reassuring orders.
5. Ability to manage passengers in corridors, staircases and passageways
6. Understanding the importance of having the ability to maintain escape routes clear of obstructions.
7. Knowledge of methods available for evacuation of disabled persons and persons needing special assistance.
8. Knowledge of methods of searching passenger accommodation and public spaces
9. Ability to disembark passengers, with special attention to disabled persons and persons needing assistance
10.Importance of effective mustering procedures, including
a. the importance of keeping order
b. the ability to use procedures for reducing and avoiding panic; .
c. the ability to use, where appropriate, passenger
lists for evacuation counts;
d. the importance of passengers being suitably clothed as far as possible when mustering;
e. the ability to check that the passengers have donned their life jackets correctly
