Course Details
The level of support in a vessel is keystone within the structure of operation of the ship, therefore the need of training first engine ratings, as personnel who will provide service onboard, thus contributing to a safety of engine watch, correct cargo handling of electric and electronic and control installations contribute to maintenance and repairs, procuring protection of people, the ship and the marine environment.
Eligibility
Previous to the entry to the training program, the participant must provide:
1. A valid good health certificate.
2. Have the four (4) certificates of basic courses in maritime safety.
3. Have a proficiency certificate of Rating forming part of an engineering watch in a manned engine room or designated to perform duties in a periodically unmanned engine-room, issued by the Panama Maritime Authority.
4. Have complied with an approved period of seagoing service of no less than six- (6) months as Rating forming part of an engineering watch in a manned engine room or designated to perform duties in a periodically unmanned engine-room in a ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more, which must be registered in the seaman´s book and/or in the company letters.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course the candidate
will be able to do the following:-
1.Contribute to engineering surveillance.
2. Contribute to the monitoring and control of machine room
supervision.
3. Contribute to fueling and oil transfer operations.
4. Contribute to bilge and ballast operations.
5. Contribute to the operation of equipment and machinery.
6. Safe use of electrical equipment.
7. Contribute to the maintenance and repair on board.
8. Contribute to the operation of stores.
9. Apply precautions and contribute to the prevention of pollution
of the marine environment.
10. Apply safety and occupational health procedures.
