Course Details
The certificate of advanced training for cargo operations on chemical tankers certificate is meant for Masters, Engine Chiefs, First Deck Officers, First Engine Officers and any other person directly responsible for loading, unloading of the cargo, care, handling of the cargo during the voyage, tank cleaning or any other operation regarding chemical. The course structure has been developed to enable the participants with the ability to know what to do, when to do it, and doing it well in a way that contributes to the safe operation of tankers and avoiding complications and minimizing risks to health and environment.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this course the candidate must: –
1. Possess a valid health certificate stating good health
2. Have a valid basic training liquefied gas tanker operations (BTLGT) certificate issued by a Maritime Training Centre (like SCMS) authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority
3. Have completed the approved period of seagoing service of three (3) months as minimum on a
liquefied gas tanker
4. Have the following basic certificates:-
a) Elementary First Aid(EFA)
b) Fire Prevention and Fire-Fighting (FPFF)
c) Personal Survival Techniques(PST)
d) Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR)
e) Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD)
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course the participant would be equipped to do the following:-
1. Safely perform and monitor all cargo operations & Respond to emergencies.
. 2. Gain Familiarity with physical & chemical properties of liquefied gas cargoes
. 3. Take precautions to prevent hazards.
4. Apply occupational health and safety precautions.
. 5. Take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment.
6. Monitor and control compliance with legislative requirements.
