Medical First Aid

Scope

For all seafarers already proficient in Elementary First Aid, certain medical emergency or accidents require possession of special set of skills to tackle them.. The participant must ensure his training, aptitude and ability is qualified enough to take charge of the medical care of the crew during and after setting off.

This course is primarily intended for applicants for a competency degree or those who already hold one

General objectives

Upon completion of the course the participant would be able to acquire knowledge on the following:-

1.    Use of First-Aid Kit & Sterilization

2.      Body Structure and function

3.      Toxicological hazards on board

4.      Examination of casualty or patient

5.      Burns, scalds and effects of heat   and cool

6.      Fractures , Spinal injuries   dislocations and
 muscular injuries

7.      Medical care of rescued persons

8.      Radio medical advice

9.      Pharmacology

10.  Cardiac arrest, drowning and asphyxia

Prerequisites

This course is primarily intended for applicants for a competency degree or those who already hold one
