Scope
This course is designed to comply with the requirements established in Regulation II/1, section A‐II/1 and table A‐II/1, of the International Convention on standards of training, certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers STCW1978, as amended.
General objectives
The participant having completed the course will be able to navigate and perform maneuvers with the use of the equipment on the navigating bridge. Develop competence in the staff of bridge for the understanding of the effects on the behavior of the ship by the influences of wind, in little deep water currents, narrow banks and channels and State of charge. The crew will have an increased awareness of the importance of the planning of the passage or maneuver and the need for an alternative plan, a greater understanding and knowledge of efficient bridge procedures and work in team of the bridge during the watch and maneuvering a vessel, under normal conditions and in emergency situations.
Prerequisites
Students who wish to enter this course must have a minimum of service experience of listening to six months as officer in charge of a navigational watch of and they must also have completed a training course that meets or exceeds the standard established in the IMO Assembly resolution A. 483 (12th), RADAR training (see IMO model course 1.07)
