Upgrading Course For Chief Engineer And Second Engineer

Scope

This course is designed to comply with the requirements of Regulation III/2, Section A-III/2, Table A-III/2 International Convention for Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers, STCW / 78, as amended.

General objectives

The participant must ensure training, aptitude and ability to perform at the management level the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A-III / 2 of the International Convention for Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended.

Prerequisites

This course is available to active seafarers, wishing to serve as “Chief Engineer Officer and Second Engineer Officer” on ships with main power plant of equal to or greater than 3000 kW of power. Participants must have a University Degree Engine Officer or equivalent and a letter of eligibility for promotion to the desired engineer rank issued by the Panama Maritime Authority.
